With two artists for parents, I spent summers going to art shows and craft fairs as a kid. I loved walking around the shows, chatting with the interesting craftspeople and quickly learned that handmade stuff is really, really cool, and uniquely powerful.
As an adult I lived in Italy for many years, absorbing the marvelous aesthetic that is distinctly Italian. I revised my own ideas about color theory and color context visiting basilicas, museums…and clothes shopping!
When I became a mother, my creativity bubbled out as an obsession with fabric. Cotton voile, linen, double gauze, I can’t get enough! I’m fascinated by how light interacts with fabric, bringing texture and radiance to a window and room.
After many years of designing and sewing curtains (again, and again!) for my own home and friends, ScissorMade is born. It is an expression of my artistic DNA, and desire to make the world a more beautiful place…one window at a time.
